Studies have shown that the 3rd Monday in January is considered the most depressing day of the year. This is the time when people realise that the promise and excitement of the New Year has waned, charge card bills from the festivities have arrived and the new excercise regime has lost its attraction.
Once again the negative chatter box, the internal critic gets to work, self berating and deprecating ourselves for our lack of results.
Stop, stop, stop. Become aware of the internal dialogue and replace it with a new thought something more supportive and affirming.
I am in control and I'm pefectly healthy.
I am enjoying my life and everyone in it.
I have the power to change.
I love me and I love being me.
I am in control of my thoughts and I choose to praise myself.
You see "You more than anyone else in the world deserves your love and affection" (Bhudda). Give yourself a break and praise yourself because sometimes you are the only one who can and will.
Namaste, Allan

What an exciting start to the year.
I was driving on the 401 last Friday morning around 8am when I hit a mixture of snow and ice and I went into a spin and crashed into and out of the ditch. I'm ever so grateful that there were no other people or vehicles involved considering the busy time of day. On reflection, once I gathered my bearings and thoughts together I realised that while I was in the process of skidding, and trying to bring my car straight, my thoughts were on WHY was I doing this? Why was I constructing and creating this accident? How did it come to this? I know that I had been quite stressed before the accident, I knew that my thoughts were anything but in alignment with who I am. I knew that I had not been paying heed to my inner knowing. All of this contributed to a lack of attention and carelessness on my part. It would have been easy to blame the snow and ice, it would have been easier still to blame the truck driver who was hogging the centre lane. But ultimately it was me who made the choices.
Responsibilty and awareness of what we are creating is a key part of growing and making change. You are the creator of your own Universe. Think about that.

New Year, New Impetus.
I hope that many of you have had a chance to do something more solid than New Year resolutions. By that I mean Goal Setting as opposed to wishful thinking. Many people give more planning and consideration to annual vacation than they do to relationship, career, health, finance or recreation. It needn't be difficult to set goals, in fact you would use the same principles as planning the vacation. Take each area of concern and start with the end in mind. What kind of holiday do you want? same for career, health, finance and then start to map out your first steps. Commit to constant actions towards those goals, small or large, it's up to you. Get an accountability partner who won't let you off the hook. Write them down and review them, often. Adjust them when necessary. Congratulate yourself with each milestone reached, and praise yourself for having made an effort.
