I was driving on the 401 last Friday morning around 8am when I hit a mixture of snow and ice and I went into a spin and crashed into and out of the ditch. I'm ever so grateful that there were no other people or vehicles involved considering the busy time of day. On reflection, once I gathered my bearings and thoughts together I realised that while I was in the process of skidding, and trying to bring my car straight, my thoughts were on WHY was I doing this? Why was I constructing and creating this accident? How did it come to this? I know that I had been quite stressed before the accident, I knew that my thoughts were anything but in alignment with who I am. I knew that I had not been paying heed to my inner knowing. All of this contributed to a lack of attention and carelessness on my part. It would have been easy to blame the snow and ice, it would have been easier still to blame the truck driver who was hogging the centre lane. But ultimately it was me who made the choices.
Responsibilty and awareness of what we are creating is a key part of growing and making change. You are the creator of your own Universe. Think about that.

I'm so glad you are safe Allan.
ReplyDeleteI had an accident last February also, just a minor one but I took the same path as you and wondered why I was creating this experience. Just as you found, my thoughts were not in alignment with my purpose or even where I was at in the moment. It's a great thing to acknowledge and accept responsibility for one's "mistakes".
